Sunlover Reef Cruises is proudly Australian owned and operated. Since our humble beginnings in 1991, we have introduced over 1.3 million guests to the natural wonders of The Great Barrier Reef.
Our eco-certified and award-winning tours take guests from Cairns to explore two pristine Outer Barrier Reef locations, Moore Reef and Arlington Reef, which can be explored off our state-of-the-art Marine Bases.
Our Moore Reef Marine Base is located 40KM off-shore of Cairns and is home to the only water slide on The Great Barrier Reef. Moore Reef has an abundance of colourful coral, fish, turtles and everything on your reef bucket list! With four hours to explore this underwater wonderland, there’s plenty of time to take advantage of all our free inclusions, such as complimentary snorkelling equipment, guided glass bottom boat, semi-sub, fish feeding, underwater observatory and touch tank presentation.
Snorkel with our giant resident Maori wrasse, Wally, or, for a more in-depth experience explore the depths of our coral gardens by doing an Intro or Certified SCUBA dive. Alternatively, immerse yourself among schools of fish in our Seawalker Helmet dive experience or explore exclusive areas of the reef with a Guided Snorkel Safari.
Arlington Reef is one of the largest and healthiest reef systems in the Great Barrier Reef having been untouched for 20 years. Just a short 90 minute ride on our air-conditioned catamaran takes you directly to our newly refurbished Marine Base for 3.5 HOURS ON THE REEF! Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and activities, it is the ideal way to view its bright, vibrant varieties of soft and hard corals & fascinating underwater community unique to the Arlington Reef. The clarity of the azure waters means that even those who don’t wish to get wet, can still enjoy a stunning views of the coral and marine life.
Arlington Reef is home to Sunlover’s dedicated charter Marine Base. As a charterer you have exclusive use of the reef and facilities with a choice of timings, menu, branding and entertainment on the world’s first dedicated venue moored on the Great Barrier Reef. Perfect for corporates, tour groups, celebrations, and even weddings!
As citizens of the reef, Sunlover is also certified as an official ecotourism operator and and has long been committed to providing quality and enjoyable Great Barrier Reef experiences with the utmost respect for our environment.
Sunlover works closely with The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) in a number of ways:
We monitor our Moore and Arlington Reef sites for trends of change to the environment. We also show guests how to complete the Eye on the Reef Rapid Monitoring Survey through our Marine Biologist for a Day experience, which directly contributes to the collection of information about reef health.
We applied and received a permit in 2013 at the outset of the eradication program to allow us to actively participate in the suppression of the starfish, which pose a threat to the reef.
Developed to educate guests about the reef environment, we are committed to providing ongoing support to our expert crew in achieving this status.
A voluntary non-profit organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of turtles. Sunlover assisted in the set up of the centre through donations, and continue to contribute through fundraising, transport of volunteers, and assisting with turtle releases from our Moore Reef Maine Base.
As a founding Citizens Circle Member, Sunlover is a proud supporter of the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef – “the world’s first collaborative and independent movement for the Reef”. Uniting interested parties from across the globe, this initiative is designed to inspire a collective approach to ensuring the longevity of the reef.
Did you know that you are making an important contribution towards the protection of the Great Barrier Reef?
$6.50 from your ticket to our Moore Reef Marine Base is given to the federal government to assist the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA), and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), in monitoring, managing and protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
