Fitzroy Island National Park
Unlike smaller coral cays or sandy islands on the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy was once part of mainland Australia. The island is largely untouched and protected as Fitzroy Island National Park, with walking tracks through the rainforest, heathland and open forest to Nudey Beach and the Summit.

Fitzroy Island Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
Over the last 6,000 years a fringing coral reef has formed around the island, and is home to numerous hard corals, soft corals and tropical fish species. These reefs are now protected as part as part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which stretches 2300km along the Queensland coastline.
